SUPPORTING OUR Aboriginal CommunitY

Western Pacific offers people in the aboriginal community an opportunity to get involved in the electrical trade through their many work programs. The program was implemented because of a deep conviction that ensuring employment for this minority group was the right thing to do. This belief is deeply rooted in the company, and is instilled in our core values. As such, Western Pacific attends multiple career fairs, meets with band leaders, offers training, and helps integrate aboriginal community members into the construction industry.

Western Pacific offers a number of avenues for employment, including apprentice programs for youth, summer work programs and training.

Our Commitment

At Western Pacific, we don’t just talk about our commitment to the aboriginal community, we act on it. Recently we entered a joint initiative with the Musqueam Indian Band to help with the construction of the Evergreen SkyTrain Line. Musqueam Band Members, under the training and direction of Western Pacific, installed all of the walkway covers for the new guideway. At any given time, we have 10-20 First Nations employees—and strive to add more.
