A FAMILY AFFAIR

In 1973, friends Dieter Fettback and Ernie Moore had a vision worth mortgaging their homes for—to start an electrical contracting company that would have a reputation for the highest integrity and quality. They succeeded, and in the early days, Western Pacific was known as an electrical contractor that could be relied upon to handle commercial, civil and industrial assignments efficiently and safely. When Moore passed away in 1989, Dieter’s sons, along with Ernie’s son, became partners and continued the family legacy. Together, they have grown the company to the point it is now—one of the largest contracting firms in Western Canada with revenues in excess of $100 million annually.

In spite of their huge expansion, Western Pacific maintains a friendly, family-style culture by including employees to be involved in decisions, and by encouraging their people to learn and grow. Over the years, there have been massive changes to the market. Diversity of technology has meant it’s no longer good enough to be just an electrician, and mentoring has become crucial in preparing the staff to meet the challenges of today’s marketplace, and so too has been re-training and cross-training. This dedication to their employees is one of the many reasons that Western Pacific has been able to maintain the same values, integrity and quality that was originally envisioned in 1973.
